A founder of EoL and the eternal “shrouded leader in the shadows”. He prefers a more discreet role in our guild management but that hasn’t made him any less instrumental in its formation. He is also the mastermind behind the elaborate design of our guild hall. He has currently stepped into an advisory role as Consul.

Grom's profile

Grom

Officer

A formerly devout follower of Kormir, Pierce has been taking after his heroic ancestor by aiding fellow Commanders on their path to glory. He brings to the Envoys his personal brand of snide remarks, knowledge of useless facts and terrible jokes. Let him know what your favourite HoMM town is!

Za Bead's profile

Za Bead

Officer

The British are coming! Describing Bead, also known as “Ian, not the other one!” as sociable, doesn’t do him enough justice. You will find him on discord voice chat on a nearly daily basis, always willing to help out or just general small talk. Put the kettle on luv, and sit down for a chat. Do keep on his good side though because this pharmacist knows exactly what to put in your tea.

Our very own American! Ian joined EoL in its early days and had mostly participated as a helpful Envoy before eventually joining the officer team. While mostly focusing on discord moderation, he has shown unwavering commitment to safeguarding the vision of EoL. A guild where everyone should feel welcome and safe.

Kimmi's profile

Kimmi

Moderator

One of our longest time members, joining EoL merely a week after its formation. In the few hours he can spare from his studies, he serves as a moderator, keeping a watchful eye on discord activity. His knowledge on game mechanics is matched only by that on the more obscure the internet has to offer. Rarely will you walk into a more interesting conversation in voice chat.

Julia's profile

Julia

Moderator / Social media Manager

Don’t let her snarky “hellaaaww?!” when joining the voice chat fool you, she earned the role of social media manager. Incredibly social and helpful, topping it off with a healthy dose of humour. She has been an invaluable addition to our guild ever since joining in the early days of its formation. Besides managing our presence on social media, she is also a discord moderator.

Ranks within the Envoys of the Lost

For the ranking structure in EoL we chose to be efficient and concise, rather than an elaborate web of management levels to navigate through on your way to the top. Our hierarchy structure thus has only 3 levels above Envoy, of which only 2 have actual decisional power with one being an advisory role. While we still utilize the maximum of 10 ranks available in the guild, the remaining ranks are used to denote functions rather than hierarchy.

When it comes to hierarchy there are the following ranks

  • Emissaries
  • Consuls
  • Sentinels
  • Envoys

For functional roles we have

  • Event hosts
  • Vanguard
  • Traveler
  • Alt
  • Advisor
  • Emeritus

Emissary

With great power comes great responsibility. Emissaries hold the highest rank in the guild and are thus considered the leaders. They have full autonomy in their decisions and rulings but are still bound by the core principles of the guild. When someone is appointed to Emissary, a trust is placed in them to act for the greater good, rather than personal gain, to see EoL thrive and survive.

Consul

A great leader is one that listens to a multitude of opinions, the Consuls are those advisors. The position is a selfless one, as they enjoy no decisional power. Consuls can only advise and because of this, even though they are considered leadership, in theory they hold less power than an officer. The position is a prestigious one however, the word of a Consul will weigh considerably in a discussion on guild matters. When an Emissary retires from the position but still want to stay active, they can choose to step into the Consul role. However, the position is also obtainable from the bottom up.

Sentinel

The forces on the ground, the first line of defense, the beating heart of order in our guild. Sentinels are your good ol’ trusty Guild Officer. They manage various tasks and serve as both your first point of contact, as well as the first ones to respond to disturbances. EoL would not be able to function without the continued effort of its Sentinels. Emissaries can lead because Sentinels make sure their vision becomes the reality, a fact that can never be understated. Members that have ambition to join EoL management can always apply for a Sentinel position. Your application is reviewed based on overall activity, conduct, contribution and how long you have been a member.

Envoy

Emissaries, Consuls, Sentinels and so much more. It all means nothing without this rank, the Envoy! No matter what your rank or position is. You are and always will be an Envoy at heart, they ARE the guild. This is where you start when you join EoL. A member with the potential to grow in any direction, or just as well have the equally valid choice to stay just that, a member.

Functional ranks

Event Host

Everyone is welcome to host certain events within EoL, as long as they adhere to our rules and standards. Event hosts are Envoys that have committed to organize events for others. After some discussions on how the event will be structured and what is needed, EoL will provide the necessary and support the Event Host were needed. They are also granted the Event Host role in-game and discord, which gives them several extra permissions to aid in their event managing role. Event Hosts are also able to invite new members, so that they can always add non-members that join their open world events.

Vanguard

Some Envoys have less interest in organizing an event, but still want to advertise our guild and help out in the department of recruitment. A guild stands or falls on whether they can manage the flow of members coming in and out. Keeping a constant stream of active members going is vital to its survival. For this reason the Vanguard role was created. They are Envoys that have the sole extra ability to invite other members.

Traveler

Our guild advertises itself heavily on its “laid-backness” and calm attitude. We often describe ourselves as “a bunch of working people that just want to unwind after work, and do not have time for try-hard gaming or drama”. Life happens, and it can throw you quite a curveball at times. For management however, it is difficult to balance that mentality of being easygoing, with the pressing need to keep a guild active. When you know you will be offline for an extended period of time, you can ask for the traveler rank through the discord holiday channel. This way you are exempt from removal due to inactivity for a longer duration. If you forget to do this and are removed, you are always welcome to request an invite back. Removal due to inactivity is never with negative intent.

Alt

As the name suggests, if you have an alt in the guild that might stay offline for extended durations, let us know. The principle is similar to that of the Traveler, only that we also know who to reach out to when needed.

Advisor and Emeritus

These last two functional ranks are also considered Honorary ranks.

When a Sentinel retires from his position they can request the position of Advisor. They are then considered Envoys with the option to fast-track back into an officer position should they wish to do so. Aside from that they can advise on regular matters but hold no voting power like Sentinels do.

Emeritus is the same but for Emissaries. When an Emissary retires and chooses not to go into a Consul position they are automatically granted the Emeritus rank. Emeriti are also lifelong exempt from removal due to inactivity. Founders are also automatically granted the Emeritus rank when retiring from the game.

Let me tell you a story
