Conclave of The Envoys

Conclave Banner

What is a conclave, you ask?

Ahhh, the conclaves. By far it is considered the most unique event EoL has to offer.

We understand that for many people it can be a bit of a barrier to get to know the people they are playing with. Joining a new guild can be overwhelming, as you feel you are intruding on already established relationships. This is where the conclaves come in, an event specifically designed to “get to know your fellow Envoys”!

And what better way is there to do that than an evening filled with fun mini-games, prizes and social interaction! So come and join us on discord, turn on your microphone and camera (if comfortable to do so), and take a peek at the person behind that elusive voice!

Grab a drink (or 10), grab some food (or a whole banquet of snacks) and enjoy a batshit crazy, unhinged evening with the best of the best that EoL has to offer.

Praise Joko! Praise the Conclave Raccoon! CONCLAAAAAAAVE !!!!!!!!!!!!

Tradition dictates! “A conclave shall start with Hide and Seek”!

Ever since our first conclave, we have always started with multiple rounds of Hide and Seek. Over consecutive Conclaves several members have become absolute legends, by showing their prowess and absolute unforgiving brutality at just how good they are in finding hiding spots within the world of Tyria. True hide and seek heroes are born out of the tears and crushed souls of those trying to find them in search of riches and glory!

The rules of the game are simple:

Setup

  • A character player hides somewhere in the world of Tyria. Before the start, certain limitations are discussed such as; only core maps, accessible on foot or with gliding, no jumping puzzles, etc.
  • The person hiding does not represent and goes offline and preferably also uses an alt account

The hunt

  • Once a location is chosen the participants are allowed to ask “yes/no” questions in voice chat to the hider.
  • The questions need to be sufficiently broad. For instance, you cannot ask whether the person is in a specific map, but you can ask a question in such a way you are easily able to narrow it down.
  • At any time, the hider is allowed to refuse to answer if the question is deemed too specific, they simply do not know the answer, or the question is too complex / convoluted.
  • The first player to stand next to the hidden character wins the round

The entire event takes place under the watchful eye of the conclave moderator. They assist the hider when questions are unclear, performs IP checks to see that people are in the right map-instance, follows up on participant movement, stimulates questioning when necessary and ultimately handles prize distribution.

Hide and seek has proven itself time and time again to be a great starter event and help people to overcome the barrier of engaging in social interaction on discord. Prizes include gold, dyes, weapon skins and even gem store items donated by members!

Asuraball

Asura-ball, the crowd(control) goes wild!

Ladies and gentlemen, get ready to rumble! Asura-ball is a fanbase invented game that EoL has enthusiastically adopted into its conclave traditions.

With the promise of absolute mayhem and cutthroat competitive friendly rivalry, it has grown into a staple event not to be missed. It is founded on the true purpose of the Asura race, to be thrown around by their tall counterpart races.

In this battle for eternal glory, two equally sized teams of up to 5 players compete in rounds to score a point, with a match consisting of a “first to three or five points”.

During conclave events there are usually multiple Asuraball matches run with varying duration depending on the team balance. Between matches the teams are randomly shuffled.

Setup

  • Participants divide in equal teams and choose either red or blue in the guildhall PvP arena
  • One person, not part of either team, ‘volunteers’ to be the ball (as the name suggests, traditionally an asura) and will chose green in the arena
  • The ball can choose to opt for invincibility or add the possibility of “playball death” as an added mechanic. Rules on how to handle this situation are at the discretion of the conclave moderator and playball player.
  • The playball player also acts as referee for goals and occasionally as game commentator
  • The arena can be set up with various obstacles, patterns and turrets to enhance complexity

Match rules

  • The team that manages to get the ball through the goalpost of the opposing team wins the round and scores a point
  • Unless agreed upon otherwise, it is not allowed to kill opposing team players. A player death will result in a match pause and penalty for the responsible team. (not applicable when choosing invincibility as option)
  • In case invincibility was not chosen, downing the ball will pause the game until resurrection. Killing the ball will reset the game with a penalty for the responsible team.
  • Any and all skills are allowed to be used. Adapt your build to have no stats (no armor/trinkets + lowest level weapons possible from the trade post) to mitigate damage as much as possible.
  • If the ball gets transformed, it will attack all players regardless of team in its surroundings for the duration of the transformation.
  • Referees decide at all times what is considered a valid score.
  • Focusing on other players is a valid tactic but refrain from repetitively singling out / griefing. Play fair.
  • When the ball is stuck, the game is paused and the ball will reset to the closest unstuck location to that point.
Asuraball

Asura-ball has quickly become one of the Envoy’s favorites, even amongst members that generally are not inclined to engage in PvP type gameplay, due to its “friendly competitive play amongst friends” nature.

It also ensures a high level of ridiculousness and hilarity due to absolute exaggerated use of crowd control skills that even the game has trouble keeping up with at times.

Additionally, the game is accessible to anyone regardless of skill.

In summary, Asuraball is an absolute must-experience when joining the Conclave.
